In line with the NEW TEAM 21 Training Programme recently introduced by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Japan, our training focus this year shall be on skill development, and increasing technical competence within the Toyota network in Nigeria.

Consequently, all training courses have been made FREE AND COMPULSORY to all Dealers who are only expected to provide accommodation for their nominees, where necessary. We have expanded the scope of our courses to emphasis diagnostic training, and have also included Parts training courses to cater for the training needs of our Parts personnel.

Facilities at the training school are being expanded and new investment in the acquisition of engine simulator and Just-In-Time (JIT) Parts Simulation game, will be made to ensure qualitative and effective training for course participation. We plan to work very closely with your Service and Human Resource Managers in establishing a joint Training and Development Programme between Distributor and the Dealers.

Your commitment to the development of your staff through this programme will surely add value to your Toyota business. We shall therefore appreciate your cooperation to ensure maximum participation of your Dealership in this training programme.

MESSAGE FROM THE SERVICE TECHNICAL MANAGER
In continuation of our aim at enhancing productivity at every Toyota Dealership, we have restructured our training programme to reflect the growing requirements of handling modern sophisticated Toyota vehicles which require increasingly knowledgeable, practical and efficient technical service manpower.

Starting with this training year, we are implementing the Toyota TEAM 21 (Technical Education for Automotive Mastery for the 21st Century) which have proved to be an immense improvement on the previous NEW TEAM System certification courses in cooperation with Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan.

In TEAM 21, greater emphasis is placed on a thorough knowledge of Engine and Drive train management through diagnosis and more workshop practicals. New courses involving the Multiplexing Communication (MPX) System, engine simulator and Just-in-time (JIT) parts simulator game, Body Electronics Area Network (BEAN) and the Audio-Visual Communication - Local Area Network (AVC-LAN) have also been introduced.
Every Toyota Technician must be trained to work within the Flat Rate Manual Time as this is the main objective of TEAM 21 introduction. To this end, the Toyota diagnostic technician and Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician Certification Courses have been introduced.

Courses for Parts personnel for this calendar year have been enriched to include, General Parts Knowledge Course, Parts Sales Course, Parts Logistics Course I (Inventory Control) and Parts Logistics Course II (Warehousing). These courses have been formulated to benefit the various strata of People from parts. All training courses have been made FREE AND COMPURSORY to all Dealers who are only expected to provide accomdation for their nominees, where necessary.

It is our hope that all Toyota Dealers and Service Dealers, Fleet Owners, Service Providers and Quick Service Stations will take full advantage of these courses to put their technical personnel in a position of strength to bestride all problems of manpower and counter the competition.

Thank You.
E. O. Towolawi
Service Technical Manager.
