7th TOYOTA ANNUAL AWARDS
The 7th edition of the annual Toyota awards was held on
14th April, 2011 at the
prestigious Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. The momentous
occasion was graced by the Chairman of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited, Chief M. Ade.
Ojo OON, Dealer Principals, Captains of Industries, Corporate as well as
individual customers from all walks of life. Journalists, friends of the Toyota
brand as well as management and staff of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited were also
present to celebrate the award winners.
The Chairman in his opening remarks hinted that the event has become a veritable
platform to reward dealers for their commitment to professional practice in the
business, customers for their consistent patronage and belief in the Toyota
brand and other stakeholders whose invaluable contributions one way or the other
sustained the top spot for Toyota (Nigeria) Limited in the Nigerian auto
industry.
He went further by highlighting and commending the efforts of TNL management in
the area of aligning with Toyota
Motor Corporation’s
Customer First Philosophy to entrench
improved customer satisfaction in 2011 and beyond. This includes revving up
dealer expansion drive to ensure accessibility and availability of
Superior
Quality products and services to TNL’s teeming customers pan Nigeria. Further, he said
that this is complemented with huge investment in systematic upgrade of
facilities across all Toyota (Nigeria) Limited’s accredited dealership outlets.
The aim, according to the Chairman, is to sustain
Toyota
Motor Corporation’s
3S philosophy of providing world
class and robust auto services in Sales,
Service and Spare Parts
comparable to what obtains in the developed world.
Also, in demonstration of its belief in giving back to the Society, the Chairman
informed that the company donated ambulances and other vehicles worth over
N20 Million to the University Teaching Hospital Private Suites, Ibadan as well as the
Ondo State Government to enhance health care delivery while supporting various
laudable projects of the Lagos State Government in the areas of education and
security.
In addition, he touched briefly on the recall of some Toyota vehicles and
posited that a reassurance check that was proactively put in place in 2010
revealed ‘no single case of Toyota vehicle with a defective acceleration pedal or any related problem
in Nigeria’, a fact corroborated
by a Ray LaHood, a United States of
America Transportation Secretary who submitted in a United Sates of America
Congress ordered investigation that ‘THERE IS NO ELECTRIC-BASED CAUSE FOR UNINTENDED
HIGH-SPEED ACCELERATION IN TOYOTAS’.

Winners in different categories received different prizes ranging from iPad to
different models of Toyota vehicles.
On hand to present the awards to the winners were the Hon. Commissioner for
Environment, Lagos State, Dr. Muiz Banire, the Chairman, Toyota (Nigeria)
Limited, Chief M. Ade. Ojo OON, the Managing Director, TNL, Mr. C.K. Thampy and
Director, TNL, Chief Sam Bolarinde amongst other dignitaries. The ceremony was
characterized by pomp and pageantry.
