THE NEW GENERATION GOROLLA AND LAND CRUISER LAUNCHES IN NIGERIA
In the months of February and March 2008 respectively, Toyota Nigeria Limited introduced
two of its high profile models viz: the New Generation Corolla and NG Land Cruiser
into the Nigerian auto market in a two legged grand launch rich in color, pomp and
pageantry. Both events recorded an impressive turn out of customers of both models.
Over 2,000 people altogether witnessed the two legged launches. Among the dignitaries
t hat graced the launches were top government functionaries as well as captains
of industry from public and private sectors of the economy such as Mr. Takashi Sakai
General Manager African Division Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan while the Minister
of Commerce and Industry was represented by the Director General of National Automotive
Council Engineer Aminu Jalal. Others include Senator Ganiyu Solomon, the managing
Director of Union Bank, Mr. Ebong, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Anil
Trigunayat and the South African Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Peter Molere.
In addition, in order to strategically position the New Generation Corolla and particularly
the New Generation Land Cruiser in the mind of its current as well as potential
customers the launches enjoyed wide media coverage considering the impressive presence
of motoring journalists from the print and electronic media. With this the desired
hype was built around the models.
It is important to note that the launches were characterized by glitz, pomp and
pageantry occasioned by choreographic displays that made the two legged event memorable
and befitting of the Toyota brand.
